As per traditional Indian Vaastu Shastra, having a place of worship (such as a temple, church, mosque, or any other religious structure) adjacent to a property can be either auspicious or inauspicious, depending on certain factors:
It is Considered Auspicious when it satisfies all 3 conditions below:
- Located in the North, East, or Northeast – If the place of worship is situated towards the Northeast (Ishan Kona), it is highly auspicious, as this direction is associated with divine energy and positive vibrations and
- At a Reasonable Distance – If the religious structure is not directly touching the property but at a safe distance(Minimum Twice Height of Temple), it can attract positive energy and
- Lower Ground Level – If the land where the place of worship is situated is at a slightly lower level than the property, it is considered favorable.
It is Considered Inauspicious if it satisfy any of the conditions below
- Positioned in the South or Southwest – If the place of worship is towards the Southwest, South, or West, it can create Vaastu imbalances, leading to financial or personal obstacles.
- Shadow Falls on the Property – If the shadow of the religious structure falls on the property (especially during sunrise or sunset), it is considered inauspicious, as it may lead to stagnation in progress or health issues.
- Too Close or Sharing a Wall – If the structure is too close or shares a boundary wall with the property, it may create an overpowering spiritual influence, which could be disruptive for residential or business activities.
- Directly in Front of the Main Entrance – If the main entrance of the property faces the entrance of the place of worship, it may lead to excessive spiritual energy, which can sometimes be imbalancing for materialistic and professional growth.
Remedies if a Place of Worship is Too Close
- Build a thick boundary wall between the property and the religious structure to create a balanced energy flow.
- Place a Panchmukhi Hanuman Yantra or a Swastik symbol on the property’s side facing the religious structure to neutralize any negative effects.
- Ensure the main entrance of the property is slightly offset from the entrance of the place of worship to balance the energies.
Conclusion:
Having a place of worship nearby can be auspicious if positioned correctly. However, if its placement is unfavorable, certain Vaastu remedies can help restore harmony.
